Bill makes a date with Longhorn

Oh yes, thats right, real actual news on this site…haven’t seen this in a while have we? Well its back!

The Longhorn group over at Redmond has finally made decision. Longhorn, the forthcoming version of Windows, has be marked for a decidedly open-ended 2006 release date. However, to squeeze Longhorn in to your homes by 2006, some fat needed to be trimmed, or in this case, a vital organ. The highly touted WinFS file system based off of Microsoft’s database software, which would enable faster searching, had to be lopped off. Though it might be added on in a beta form or an update later on, it will not be part of the full release.

Too bad. I wonder what Apple will be saying about this when their next expo kicks off on Tuesday, now that Tiger’s big Spotlight feature will have no Windows equivilant.
