A Good Cheese Stick

cheesestick.jpg

I had some Arby’s today for dinner, they had their “5 for $5.95″ deal. With that deal, I opted for an order of mozzarella sticks. While eating said sticks, I thought to myself: “Have I ever had a really good mozzarella cheese stick?”

I don’t think I have. In fact, my life has been so deprived of excellent cheese stickery, that I really don’t even know what makes a mozzarella cheese stick a great cheese stick. One might think that the type of mozzarella cheese in the stick would be the biggest factor of taste, but I really doubt it becuase all nicer cheeses probably could not be frozen like the cheese in most, if not all cheese sticks today. I think the secret lies in the batter, but maybe not. Like I said, I’ve never really had a good one. Oh, there have been some bad ones! The cheese wasn’t melted or it didn’t get cooked right. The vast majority of the cheese sticks I’ve had were good…not bad, not great…just good.

Have any of you ever had a really good mozzarella cheese stick? If so, what was so great about it, and where can I get them!? I just want to have one really good cheese stick just to have something to relate the rest of my cheese stick’s too. I guess that would be a measuring cheese stick.

Collective Licensing and the RIAA

Is Suing Your Customers a Good Idea?
This is newly posted article by the one of the great folks over at the EFF. The title says it all. This is an article on Law.com (which is free to read), and it just goes through the motions about the good and bad (there is mostly bad) about the way that the major record lables are going about their business. How can they fix this? He states that they should adopt a collective licensing approach. I agree, its really the best way to go. I realize that every week someone else has a “great idea” that the RIAA would never do…and I would be surprised if they ever did this one. But at the same time, this idea makes more sense than most.

Read it, and feel informed on the issue so you can sound smart when you talk to someone at a party. And then tell them you heard of it from Hell Yeah Bitch! .com…see what they say.

Goodbye Rodney

Once when I was lost I saw a policeman and asked him to help me find my parents. I said to him, “Do you think we’ll ever find them?” He said, “I don’t know kid. There are so many places they can hide.”

Comedian died today at the age of 82. I won’t go into his whole life and all the great things that he did, but if you want that information, and its a good story, you can check that out at the MSNBC article. Rodney was always one of my favorite comedians. He always had that great one liner wating in his pocket, and he was never afraid to make fun of himself or press the boundries of what most people thought was funny.

I was making love to this girl and she started crying. I said, “Are you going to hate yourself in the morning?” She said, “No, I hate myself now.”

Rodney made some great movies (Chaddyshack) and some lame ones (Ladybugs), but he was always his best on the Tonight Show. I really don’t like the Tonight Show, but I would always watch it when he was on.

Last week my tie caught on fire. Some guy tried to put it out with an ax!

Rodney Dangerfield was a great comedian and for a man that was always quoted saying “I never get any respect.” I sure gave him a lot. Enjoy the quotes from Rodney along with this post.

I remember I was so depressed I was going to jump out a window on the tenth floor. They sent a priest up to talk to me. He said, “On your mark…”

We’ll miss you Rodney!

Livestrong, die now! II

It just keeps getting worse…
Let me get some things out of the way first. The love that people have for Lance Armstrong is a bit irrational and scary. (check Livestrong, die now! if you don’t know what I’m referring too) Forgive me, but I just don’t understand it. And well folks, it just keeps getting worse.

I love the St. Louis Cardinals. I have always loved them, even when they suck. But sometimes they do some stupid things. Like letting fans get 12 playoff tickets per game, thus squeezing people like me out of playoff tickets! But that is another post. Another lapse into a retarded state of mind happened for the Cardinals brass this year when they decided to release these:

“The Cardinals Rally Bands”

This is beyond stupid. The only thing worse than a idea that has been exploited and ruined, is the next idea that sees the exploitation and crappiness and decides to go forward with the copying anyway.

Oh but there is more! Do you watch American Chopper? This show used to be just awesome. I watched it religiously for months, and I don’t even like motorcycles! But then, like shows of this nature, they started to run out of ideas. I mean how many different ways can you make the same basic motorcycle look different? However, if this show hasn’t “Jumped the Shark” already, they did tonight with the…I bet you can guess what it is going to be already…”Lance Armstrong Bike”. Welcome to a whole new low! I caught the tail end of the show because my brother told me about it. Of course, Lance was there, with Sheryl laughing and clapping behind him like she always does. (Didn’t she used to be a singer?) and he drove the bike wearing that same back sport coat with his shirt halfway unbuttoned, which is apparently his uinform when not in the biking gear (i.e. those lame Subaru commericals).

Why is it that everyone believes that Barry Bonds (who sucks too by the way) MUST do steriods because that is the rumors going around. But there have been rumors going around forever that Armstrong dopes up too, yet everyone assumes that is bull. Can someone explain that too me? They both fit the profile: Older guys dominating their sport, but neither one have any proof or tests, or any thing at all that says “yes, they have done steriods” yet Bonds we think is full of shit and Armstrong “would never do such a thing!” Really I don’t get it.

Ok, thats all for now! Now the decision comes…now that there is 2 posts knocking on our beloved Lance, do I want comments from people flipping out on me on both stories or just one? I think we should concentrate our efforts on one. So the comments will be turned off on this post, but feel free to post on the other one. (link to follow)

Mandrake and Me

Stupid Mandrake Linux. My problems still exist. The damn network config still won’t stay in the damn computer! Everytime I reboot, I have to setup the network again. Very needless and frustrating! And another thing…the damn Mandrake Control Center’s window is for some reason, by default, super large for the screen so I can’t resize it or see the scrollbars or even see the very bottom or top of the window, making it pretty damn useless. STUPID PEICE OF SHIT!

My linux experience is starting off with a very annoying wimper. I decided I’m going to wipe this peice of crap Mandrake and try something else. But what? I can’t have anything too intense, becuase I’m a beginner. So I have no idea what I’m going to do, but I have to wait for ISO downloads either way.

I want to get this damn server going so I can get to playing with it and learning the ins and outs.

The Linux Install

Ok…I dumped a 13 gig HD in my old / new linux box tonight. Long story short, I got Mandrake 9.0 going with only a few problems. If any linux guys out there want to help me out, I wouldn’t mind at all…

1. I have an old ass graphics card and now I can’t get the dame screen to fit in my monitor viewing area. I can’t find in Gnome where to fix that or change resolution.

2. I set up the computer on my network and when I restarted it, it lost the network connection that I setup for it….VERY ANNOYING. Right now I got it going again and its just sitting there at the login prompt. But i did get it access to it via ssh in from my other computers via putty or the OS X terminal. Any suggestions on how to get that network to stay? (Granted maybe it will this time if I reset it again…but I didn’t want to mess with it anymore tonight.)

3. Good Linux book?
