Apple and I are on a “break”.
Apple computers and I have been having a not-so-secret love afair, namely with my iBook “Lois”, for almost a year and a half now. Yesterday night, we had our first fight.
I have been busy editing a video of my little brother’s graduation. Well the editing is complete and I decided I would have my first experience with using iDVD. So after I waited forever to encode the project in the background of iDVD and clicked burn. So far so good. Well it churned through the making rendering of all the menus and then when it got to working with the audio for the movie itself, it iDVD crashes. It moves from rendering the menus, right to rendering the movie’s audio…the little “burn wheel” stops moving and it just sits there, waiting for me to force quit the damn thing. 3 times I’ve tried this with the same results!
Now, I’m no fool…and I’m not looking for speed. I realize that my iBook is only a G4 933 MHz with a maxed-out 640 mb of RAM. I can handle slow…crashing I’m not so cool with.
What to do now? Well, I’m kinda out of ideas. So I deleted the previous build of the movie that iDVD did, and I’m re-encoding it now and I’ll try to burn the project to an image and see if that works…
Hopefully this will be fixed…I really don’t want to go on with a rift like this in my relationship with Apple.
