Should Mike Release His New Creation Without a Proper Demo?

Editor’s Note: Have you ever written a headline and then when you started to write the post, you realize that the headline pretty much covers everything you wanted to say?
First, I made the “iChat auto-start video chats script“, and thats done fairly well for itself. (I think theres a couple in Toledo using it.) Then I released the Mobile Blog Viewer, which was a truly surprising success, and is still getting quite a bit of regular traffic. Now, I’ve got something new in the can, ready to go, but I’m unsure on when and if I should release it. No, its not some top-secret security based app and I’m waiting for my bribe check to clear before I release it…although that sounds cool…maybe next time. The truth is I’m not currently able to give it a full demo on this site. The trouble lies in the fact that I’m on a shared server that has restrictions on what I can install, and because of this limitation I can’t give my new app a complete demo on this site. I’m working on solutions now, but as of this writing it won’t work to the capacity I want it to. So, my question to the three of you that comment (although I would love more) is: Should I release it anyway, knowing that the “impact”, if there is any, would be lessened without a full demo? Simply in a general sense, are full demos of web-technology something that are required for adoption, or could a lesser demo along with instructions on how to make your setup ideal generate the same amount of adoption?
I’m not giving up on trying to get what I need on my Dreamhost server, but just thought I would get any input that anyone would like to share.
