Barack Obama Is Smart, Sexy and Pro Net Neutrality
This may seem silly to some of you, but not only do I live my life online but I make my living there too and Barack Obama may have seriously earned my backing in the primaries and the general election with this statement:
Affixing his signature to federal Net neutrality rules would be high on
the list during his first year in the Oval Office, the junior senator
from Illinois said during an interactive forum Monday afternoon with
the popular contender put on by MTV and MySpace at Coe College in
Iowa…He went on to explain the issue briefly: “What you’ve been seeing
is some lobbying that says that the servers and the various portals
through which you’re getting information over the Internet should be
able to be gatekeepers and to charge different rates to different Web
sites…so you could get much better quality from the Fox News site and
you’d be getting rotten service from the mom and pop sites,” he went
on. “And that I think destroys one of the best things about the
Internet–which is that there is this incredible equality there.”
I usually like to stay away from “serious” topics like politics on this site because, well, its called Hell Yeah Bitch!, but this is huge if Obama gets elected and follows through.

- An Unordered List of Leopard Thoughts hellyeahbitch.com/archives/2007/10/282037 #
- @archphoenix Yeah, I tend to believe that stupid names like those, or any of the recent celebrity examples, border on child abuse. #
- @archphoenix Yup. Coco Crisp! A former Cardinal farm-hand in fact. Coco is tied for the funniest baseball name with Milton Bradley. #
- Sorry, the dock doesn’t WORK any better sans shelf, but I do think it LOOKS better. #
- Jesus the dock works better after you turn off the "shelf". #
- Big homer from the Rockies!!! #
- Is there some kind of people that hate the new transparent menu bar on Leopard list I can add myself to? #
An Unordered List of Leopard Thoughts
- I’m loving the overall polish Leopard has. Its a great OS so far.
- I hate the transparent menu bar.
- I love love love the fact that in the open dialog windows now have the ability to browse through your iPhoto library! Much easier to flickrize photos that are trapped in the iPhoto bundle now.

- The new help system is a mixed bag. I like the arrows and the search, but the unmovable help window needs to be fixed via an update ASAP.
- I’m not sure if this is related to Leopard but Firefox crashed on me in the middle of writing this and now I have to rewrite half of it.
- I’ve already hacked the dock so its no longer the shelf. I didn’t hate the shelf as much as some, but the other way looks way better. I’m glad there was a way to change it, even if it wasn’t official.
- I’m running Time Machine on my MacBook Pro, but not on my iMac. That machine gets handed too many big files throughout the day and I don’t want those backed up every hour.
- Did I say how much I hate the transparent menu bar?
- I’m crushing hard on Spaces and thats surprising. I initially blew it off as an empty feature that linux has had for some time, but Apple has done a nice job with it and I’ve been using it a lot on both machines this weekend.
- iChat is, as expected, very cool. Its sad that both parties have to be running Leopard in order to record video chats.
- Stacks have grown on me as well. I’m for anything that helps me keep my desktop clean.
- I love how all the popup menus have rounded corners now. Nice touches like that is really the meat of this OS.
- Another great little touch: When renaming a file, just the name of the file is auto-highlighted and not the file extension.
- I like the Mail and iCal newness, but I haven’t really needed to use any of their new features.
- Speaking of Mail, if I can get this version to work with my office’s Exchange server I will hump my little hologram-tastic Leopard box.
Thats all for now. Feel free to add your thoughts.

Photo: A Long Line At the St. Louis Apple Store
I, and a few of the Apple employees, were honestly surprised with the large turnout for Leopard’s release here at the West County Mall Apple Store in St. Louis.
When Phil and I showed up, I was worried I wasn’t going to get a shirt. We did. But just barely.
Mike Has Installed OX X 10.5 Leopard!
Here’s a story of my Mac-lust:
When Leopard finally got a date, I was initially: “Thats cool, I’ll just install it on my MacBook Pro when I get it for my office machine.” to “Well, maybe I’ll buy it so I can get it faster, but I’ll use my girlfriend’s school discount so I can get it cheaper” to earlier today when I decided to just “Screw it. I’m just going to pay full price because I need to install that hotness tonight.”
No, I’m not proud of this.
That being said, I am running OS X 10.5 Leopard on my MacBook Pro and so far so good. I won’t bore you with yet another review of Leopard, but I will put up some points tomorrow.
