Although the SciFi calendar is a little at odds with the Promotional material on just what day this movie is going to air (June 9th or 10th?) this Sci-Fi movie is a must-see (at least for Mike and I).

While you may be thinking to yourself, “Self – a movie starring Judd Nelson and the chick from the Buffy Movie has got to be great! Why would only Mike and Dan want to watch this masterpiece?”

Because in ‘Black Hole’ St. Louis gets destroyed first by a black hole (ok, that’s a given) and then DESTROYED AGAIN BY A MONSTER THAT LIVES IN PREVIOUSLY MENTIONED BLACK HOLE.

From a NBC Press Release:

On Saturday, June 10 @ 9 PM, SCI FI presents Black Hole. When a St. Louis based particle accelerator malfunctions, an ever-expanding and unstoppable black hole forms. Out of the hole comes a vicious “energy creature” that begins destroying everything in its path. Black Hole stars Kristy Swanson and Judd Nelson.

Fan-freakin-tastic! I’m still looking around for if this was shot in St. Louis or someplace else. I hope this will be a beautifully horrible movie with many St. Louis location shots. Most certainly being TiVo’ed.

Update: SciFi Channel must own Judd Nelson – as I type this he’s in ‘Falcon Down’ right now on SciFi – another made for SciFi movie.

Update #2: My well-informed little brother just sent me an Judd Nelson update:

Parts of the movie were filmed in STL October/November 2004. Judd
came into Bare Escentuals for some Christmas shopping.

-Ben

PS, I missed it due to a poorly timed bathroom break.

On Billy West’s forums (the voice of Fry) Billy added this to a posting of his:

I’m thisclose to selling my show–”Billy Bastard–Amateur Human Being,”
And the other good news is that they’re doing 26 new episodes of
”Futurama” for TV and we’re hammering out the deal now.The original
plan was to have the DVD’s first but that’s no longer the case.I’m totaly
jammed dude.

Greetings from the year 3000! It still sucks!

Billy

Although I couldn’t (quickly) verify this on Billy’s site this is a comment from a Newsvine seed:

Billywest.com – “HERE’S GREAT NEWS!
Here’s the official word on Futurama!!
David X. phoned me about an hour ago and said that this Futurama project
is a done deal! Here’s the word from DX—
There are 4 DVD movies that we’ll start recording at the end of July or
August.Full feature length FUTURAMA movies.
Everybody is excited to get back together–as I am!

Into the Future,
Billy”

Not a series, 4 DVD movies but that’s still cool.

I’m stoked. There’s a lot of buzz out there about how horrible it is to bring something back to life after such a long time. That new episodes won’t \ can’t be as good as the originals but I have high hopes. The same directors are coming back, along with (I presume) most or all of the original voices. I say they should start selling Slurm as a promotion – I’d buy 10 cases.

We do a lot of tech-based content on Hell Yeah Bitch! .com, but I’m of the mind that sometimes you’ve got to get your head out of the nerd books and read and look at something else. Case in point, Charlize Theron was recently interviewed and photographed (a lot) for Flaunt Magazine. Just Jared has the whole shebang, articles and pictures up on his site.

Take a break from your geekery and read about (and look at) one of the hottest broads in Hollywood.

Editor’s Note: Sorry for the title re-tred, but what else are you going to title this post? Its really the only option.

One of the greatest comedians of all time died today. He will be missed. There’s really nothing more to say, but if you have never experienced Richard Pryor, you should.

Required Richard Pryor Viewings:
1. Any of his numerous stand-up act tapings. I hope Comedy Central will be airing some of Pryor’s great bits in their un-edited block of programming tonight, or soon. (I think its called “The Stash”). Thats the key though, it really has to be un-edited, or there is really no point in watching.
2. Movie: “See No Evil, Hear No Evil”
3. Movie: “Superman III” (Superman and Richard Pryor, what’s better than that?!)

There are more, but those are the required ones.

A web design firm called Liquid Light threw together a little game they call: “The Right Mix Cocktail mixing game” Its a fun little flash game where your job is to mix the right cocktail. You have to do it all, pour the right amount of liquids, add ice or lemon and shake it the right amount. The main problem is that to “win” the game you must go about making the best Cosmopolitan. Not exactly my drink of choice, but they made this as an invite to a company party for a client, so that must have had something to do with that limitation.

I know I’m a little late to the “Lets Write Something About the Xbox 360 Party” but I figured I would chime in anyway.

Has anyone noticed the complete insanity over these things? There are guys that would beat and pee on an orphan just to get one! Of course, that is insane…why should you get a Xbox 360 for doing something you love doing every Wednesday?! Thats besides the point though. The real deal is this: Yes, the 360 is cool, and sure its faster, but at this moment, what else is there? What else is there that is better than my current Xbox that would justify me losing my mind and paying some schmuck on E-Bay $1,625.00 for one?

Xbox 360 Fan Boys: There are more features! Are there? Really? Apparently you can sream your video and music from your computer to your nice TV in the living room with the new Xbox. Neat huh? Yeah, I already have that with my current hacked Xbox (Thanks Joe). So no new feature there. Plus, you have to have a Windows Media Center computer for this “feature” to work. My current Xbox streams happily from my linux server.

Oh there is the ability to sync my iPod to the new 360! Wow, so I can have my iPod music playing in the background of some of my games? That would be cool if you couldn’t already do that on the current Xbox with something called a CD…or the fact that both those features suck when you could just turn up your stereo and turn the music in the game down.

Xbox 360 Fan Boys: Its more powerful! Better chips, better graphics. Well thats true. But we are talking about a box made years later than the first Xbox, so the fact that its faster isn’t exactly amazing news. The problem that I have with it right now is with all that gaming power, what are you going to do with it? At the current time there are 18 games available. 18. That sucks. Of course, in the future there will be tons of games to play to use all that gaming hardware, but right now, whats the point of going crazy over something and paying extreme amounts of money over a box that you won’t really love until that game you want comes out 4 months from now, when coicendently, the price of the Xbox has dropped down to semi-normal levels (read: not $1,625.00).

Don’t get the wrong idea from this though. I would love to have a 360, and I have no doubt that at some point I will buy a 360. In fact, I would take one today as a present. But buying one today, which apparently entails killing someone or spend the Gross National Product of Ecuador, is out of the question. Actually, I’m not sure why anyone would buy one until they are succesfully hacked.

Ok, so Deane was right. So was, whoever that was, that gave me the same link 6 months ago. I should have been watching The Scene all along.

The Scene is an IPTV show about the underground movie pirating circle called…wait for it…The Scene. Its an interesting show for two reasons, the subject matter (which gives me a hard flashback to my freshman year in college when I was really into the movie trading) and the way the show is presented. Each episode is shown as a continuous screen capture with a in-set video feed of the main character of that episode. The story if moved partially via the dialog from the video inset, but the most of it is driven by the chats (ICQ, AIM and IRC) going on between the characters. I realize it sounds about as much fun as slamming your penis (or a boob…for lady readers) is a desk drawer the way I just described it, but its really way nicer than having you penis (boob) slammed in a desk drawer. I guess you’ll just have to trust me, or you can watch the first couple episodes and see for yourself. Either way, I would still advise you to not try slamming your penis in a desk drawer. Although I’m not sure what it feels like to have a boob slammed in a desk drawer, I guess I would advise against that too…unless it you are going to do it naked with that hot friend of yours, then feel free to tape it and send it this way.

I just threw up. Twice. I can’t believe what I just read on the LA Times website. I’m just going to say it: Laguna Beach isn’t 100% real. Sure the producers still hold on their statements that they force no drama or dialogue, but they did let this out:

Despite persistent skepticism by some viewers and critics, producers said nothing, including dialogue, is made up. Still, many wonder how far MTV and the producers go to encourage the drama. “There are times when something big goes down the night before and we’ll ask, ‘Can you wait until the camera’s there to talk about it?’ ” Gateley said. They may suggest a restaurant that will allow filming, and they help pay for dinners. The cast receives “a nominal fee,” but no residuals, DiSanto said.

Wow. What a shocker. Wanna here more news that you could have guessed? People (schmucks) have flocked to the town of 25,000. But not just as tourists looking for Steven and L.C. (even though, from what little I’ve watched, Kristen is hotter.)…many people are moving there, hoping that their budding teenager will get “casted” in the show. This year’s freshman class is 300, the most in the last decade. Which of course means that the new class will be crazier and 100% more fake as they do anything to get in front of the camera. You think this version is fake and lame? I have a feeling we haven’t seen anything yet. Have you ever sat down and watched an episode of Saved By The Bell: The New Class? It will be like that…but I don’t think Screech will be their assistant principal.

A few days ago, I was outed by my girlfriend on the identity of one of my “Top Secret Crappy Songs That I Love List” in the comments on Dan’s Last.fm article. We all have our list. Admit it. Everyone of us has a small list of songs that we know suck ass…be we love them. We always listen when they come on the radio, we have them tucked away on our iPod under a fake name, and we might even sing along to them if we are in such a mood. Sure it stung at first having one of my songs laid out there for the world, but then the pain subsided, and after I threw darts at a picture of her head for a day and a half, I have now come to terms with it. In fact I’m way past “coming to terms with it”, I’ve not only come to terms with it, but I’ve also held its hand, grab its butt once or twice, and after this article, I might just have scored with it.

Here’s the deal: I’m going to put my list out there. I’m laying my “Top 5 Secret Crappy Songs I Love List” right out there for the world to see. Why 5? Well you have to pick a number…how lame is a Top 7 list? When you read something like that, your brian just treats numbers 6 and 7 as honorable mentions anyway. If you aren’t going to 10, then you have to scale back to 5…I’m not sure thats a real rule, but it should be. After I put this list up I urge everyone to come out of the music closet and announce their own top 5 list, either in the comments, on your own site, or how about just someone in the room with you. Its ok, we all know not to judge you by your list. This is a list of songs you shouldn’t like, but do. If it makes you feel better list your Top 5 Songs You Are Proud To Love along with the other list.

See the list after the break…
