GoogleTV and Proof That YouTube Users Aren’t That Smart
Some guy made a “fake” web tv show episode called Infinite Solutions. Within the program, he proceeded, through the use of screencasts, to show the viewer how to get an exclusive beta invite to a new Google service, “GoogleTV”, via an easter egg in GMail’s interface. Clearly, this is a hoax. Google can’t squat without every blogger in the world waiting around staring at them, holding toilet paper, so thinking they got an on-demand TV service out the door quietly is a complete joke. That being said, TONS of retard youtubers have been following the steps that included the perfectly evil final step of logging out and back into GMail “until it works”. It only gets better when you read some of the comments on the video.
Heidenreich12 – this is simply a waste of time…i tried it 70 times with no luck
angelg0ld – I’m starting to lose faith. This takes a huge time committment but there are a few ppl that say after many tries they got it. I want it!!!! I’m using tasker and am over 160. I’ll let you all know if I get it~
I love the dude that made this. I don’t want to be forward…but he could have me if he wanted me…

Mac Users Finally Get Skype With Video
Nothing better than a geeky company challenging other geeks to be “brave” and try their new pre-beta (isn’t that called alpha?) software. Today Skype called out the manliness of all OS X users by challenging us to be “brave” and try their new Skype with Video preview. Unless, you are a little pussy that doesn’t want video? Frankly though, if thats the case, please turn in your nerd glasses and your penis and step away from the computer.
I’m answered the challenge already by downloading it and signing in. However, since I don’t have a super-cool MacBook yet I don’t have a camera to test it on right now. I’m hearing good things though and plan to give it a whirl when I get home tonight. If you want to look me up tonight so we can get in our convertible, hold hands and drive off the cliff together into the scary abyss that is “preview technology” you can find me on skype as “mikehyb” Until then, be careful out there. The world of Alpha software is a scary place.
Flickr Goes Gamma?

Am I crazy or did Flickr go from beta to gamma in the last few hours? On this page of some unwrapping photos of the new black MacBook, check out the new logo (also pictured at right) and the new and MUCH needed search field at the top right.
Did this happen a while ago and I never noticed it? Are the only new features the cosmetic ones listed above? If there are more features, what are they? Gamma? Are they serious? Has anyone seen one my socks…the good ones with the elastic in the middle…I can’t seem to find it?
You Too Can Get the Famed Beta Yahoo! Mail
I just caught a posting on Digg that links to quick and easy way to get access to the Yahoo! Mail Beta that has been the talk around the Web 2.0 water cooler for sometime. They worked great for me…check it:
How to change your content preference:
* log in to Yahoo Mail
* click Options
* select Account information from the left panel
* go to Member Information, General Preferences, Preferred Content
* select, for example, Yahoo UK
* click Finished
* go to Yahoo Mail
* you’ll see a page that says “It’s the New Yahoo! Mail Beta… and you’re invited.”
* click on “Try Beta Now”.
* Editor’s note: The above steps forget to tell you that after you have the beta, you can go back and switch the content back to US or whatever other country you are from…Unless you are embarrassed because you are from France, then you can just leave it set at the UK.
UPDATE: Don’t worry about the steps, just click here
Ok, so I have it…now what? Well first off let me fire the first bitch bullet at Yahoo! for not supporting Safari! I understand Safari has some issues with alignment, particularly absolute alignment (I’m currently working on a AJAXed web 2.0 app at work and I ran in to some Safari problems.) But you aren’t a web development department of one, you are freakin’ Yahoo! You can’t figure out some measly Safari problem? Come on.
What else? Honestly the only other problem I have with it is that I have a Yahoo! mail account to simply try out the beta. None of my mail has come through this Yahoo! account in many many years. Which causes two problems: I won’t be able to get solid use out of this great interface daily, and I won’t get a chance to see how it runs full of emails. Those issues aside, I love what I have seen so far from Yahoo! Mail Beta. I’m sure this is where everything else is headed and with the exception of a little OS racism by making OS X users start up Firefox to get a look at it, it is a fantastic mail client. By far and away the best webmail client out there.
*Editor’s Note #2: I know my review is pretty glowing, but don’t get too caught up in it and lose your head. Use discretion when using Yahoo! Mail, because if the shit goes down Yahoo! will dime you out in a heartbeat.

Yahoo Mail (Beta)
I got an interesting email today:
Your Yahoo! Mail Beta is coming soon.
Thanks for your interest in the new Yahoo! Mail Beta. Your turn is coming soon.
We know you can’t wait to get your hands on the new Yahoo! Mail and we’re just as excited about delivering it to you. Right now we’re working around-the-clock to make sure it’s everything you expect and more.
So stay tuned for further word. In the meantime, there’s no need to do anything. Your place in line is secure, and you’ll get the green light as soon as possible.
Thanks again,
Yahoo! Mail Team
I’m very excited. Although I’ve switched 90% of my email to Gmail I still use Yahoo Mail for some things. I’ve seen some screen shots of Yahoo’s new email client and it looks like Yahoo has picked up the gauntlet that Google thew down last April Fool’s Day. I hear it’s all AJAXy and I think I heard a rumor of tabbed email, but I could be mistaken on that.
Anyone else out there in the interweb already using the Beta?
Update
Christopher pointed to a screen capture movie of someone demostrating Yahoo’s new mail features – it does indeed have tabs. You can have a few emails open, along with multiple new messages waiting to be sent. Drag-in-drop messages between folders, which you can create and edit all on the fly. The Yahoo Mail (Beta) looks like it behaves exactly like Thunderbird (or Outlook, or Eudora) does on the desktop.
And it’s done in freakin Javascript
Anyone remember way back when (18 months ago?) Javascript was just a backwater cousin to ‘real’ programming languages? Yeah, it was nifty for doing image swaps in a mouse-over and setting cookies and such, but two years ago did anyone really think that Javascript could replace C\C++ as an enterprise-class application building language?
Update 2:
To further my point about using dhtml \ javascript in applications that have always lived in the desktop realm, Writely is a Web Word Processor. Think MS Word, in your browser.
